GALLERY MoMo Projects is pleased to present Interlogue vol.1, the first installment of an exhibition series initiated by the legacy of a collector, on view from January 24 to February 21, 2026.
This exhibition series comprises works from several sources: the collection of a long-time supporter of the gallery, who consistently visited and cherished its exhibitions; the collection of the gallery’s owner, who was also a collector; and works by artists represented by the gallery. Rather than presenting these collections all at once, the series unfolds over multiple exhibitions, carefully tracing shared interests, perspectives, and points of resonance among the works. By bringing together works by diverse artists, the exhibition explores a space in which the inside and outside of the collection gently intersect.
This exhibition features works by Yui Yaegashi, Masaaki Yamada, and Gen Yamanaka.
Yui Yaegashi has worked primarily in painting, visualizing emotions and subtle fluctuations of time embedded in everyday life through delicate color and composition. Her paintings combine precise depiction with areas of openness, questioning the act of seeing itself and offering viewers room for imagination.
Masaaki Yamada, one of the leading abstract painters of postwar Japan, devoted himself over many decades to painting series such as Work. The surfaces he constructed through repetition and continuity are traces of a rigorous engagement with the act of painting itself, and are highly regarded as works that embody time and spirituality.
Gen Yamanaka, working mainly in woodblock prints and drawings, has expressed fundamental images related to dreams, memory, nature, life, and death through tranquil and symbolic compositions. Positioned between figuration and abstraction, his imagery quietly speaks to the inner lives of viewers, transcending personal experience.
Although the three artists differ in generation and artistic context, they share a sustained engagement with “seeing,” “time,” and “inner experience” through painting. Centered on these universal themes, the exhibition brings forth a quiet resonance among the works.
The title Interlogue is a coined term combining Inter and Dialogue. It signifies the beginning of a dialogue that emerges between works, between narratives, and serves as an entry point through which a collection is passed on to the next moment in time. For a gallerist, the exhibition is also a source of joy in being able to introduce artists who are not often shown in the gallery’s program. At the same time, it is conceived as a space to be shared with visitors, where one can experience how works respond to one another and give rise to new relationships. GALLERY MoMo Projectsでは、2026年1月24日（土）から2月21日（土）まで、コレクターの遺志を起点とした展覧会シリーズ『Interlogue vol.1』を開催いたします。
本展覧会シリーズは、長年にわたり当ギャラリーに足を運び、作品を愛し続けてくださったコレクターのコレクション、コレクターでもあった当ギャラリーオーナーのコレクション、そしてギャラリーアーティストの作品をもとに構成されるものです。各コレクションに通底する関心や視点、作品同士の共通項を丁寧に読み解きながら、複数回に分けて展覧会を展開していく予定です。さまざまなアーティストの作品を交え、コレクションの内と外がゆるやかに交差する展示空間を試みます。
本展では、八重樫ゆい、山田正亮、山中現の作品を展示いたします。
八重樫ゆいは、絵画を中心に、日常の中に潜む感情や時間の揺らぎを、繊細な色彩と構成によって可視化してきました。確かな描写と余白を併せ持つ画面は、見るという行為そのものを問い返し、鑑賞者に想像の余地を与えます。
山田正亮は、戦後日本を代表する抽象画家の一人として、長年にわたり「Work」シリーズをはじめとする絵画制作に取り組みました。反復と持続によって積み重ねられた画面は、絵画行為そのものと向き合う厳密な思考の痕跡であり、時間と精神性を内包した作品として高く評価されています。
山中現は、木版画やドローイングを中心に、夢や記憶、自然、生と死といった根源的なイメージを、静謐で象徴的な画面として表現してきました。具象と抽象のあわいに立ち現れる像は、個人的な体験を超えて、観る者の内面に静かに語りかけます。
三者は生きた時代や制作背景こそ異なるものの、いずれも絵画を通して「見ること」「時間」「内的な経験」と向き合い続けてきた点において共通しています。本展では、そうした普遍的なテーマを軸に、作品同士の静かな共鳴を浮かび上がらせます。
タイトルの『Interlogue（インターローグ）』は、「Inter（あいだ）」と「Dialogue（対話）」を組み合わせた造語です。作品と作品のあいだ、物語と物語のあいだに生まれる対話の始まりであり、コレクションが次の時間へと受け継がれていく入口となることを願い、この名を付けました。ギャラリストにとっては、普段は展示する機会の少ない作家たちを紹介できる喜びでもあります。同時に、作品同士がどのように呼応し、新たな関係性を立ち上げていくのかを、来場者とともに楽しむ場としたいと考えています。この機会にぜひご高覧ください。
